There will be a time when you know you want to move up in your organization. When you feel ready, do the following:
✅ Let your supervisor know. Worried about what to say? Here is an example: "I love working here and wanted to let you know that I would like to take on some more responsibilities and learn more about how to be a leader." OR if you are already a leader, you could say- "I have learned so much in my role as an Assistant Principal. I'd love to challenge myself to learn more about how to be a XXX (principal, director, whatever.)"
✅ Volunteer to take on tasks that will grow your abilities in areas in which you haven't had a lot of experience.
✅ Watch, listen to and learn from people who are in positions that you desire.
✅ GROW where you are planted.
