Donna Marie Cozine is in her 26th year of education and has taught from Pre-K through graduate students. She has held the positions of classroom teacher, director of curriculum, affirmative action officer, assistant principal, principal, district testing coordinator and Chief Educational Officer/ Superintendent.
In 2012 she began imaging and planning an elementary school where students could experience joy, be taught through and with the arts, where families and staff were equally engaged in the learning and academic success of their children. From the work Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts in Rochester, NY was born. The school was authorized to open on December 17, 2013 and has grown from 194 students and 32 staff members to over 500 students and 97 staff members.
Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts is in its 7th year of operation and is a well respected and sought after school in the area as evidenced by a wait list of more than 525 students each year.
Dr. Cozine is the best-selling author of So You Want to Be a Superintendent? Become the Leader You Were Meant to Be! The book is based on her own leadership experiences and her coaching of other leaders. Dr. Cozine has developed the DRIVERS approach, a proprietary method for leadership development which has been extremely successful in her work with leaders. Dr. Cozine’s second book Happy Teachers, Joyful Students, Engaged Parents: A Guide to Creating a School Community that Works was published in 2021.
Dr. Cozine recently retired from her position of CEO/Superintendent of the organization that she created in order to focus on her true passion: growing leaders. She created Consult DMC Inc. to do just that and has been serving leaders internationally through her coaching and ongoing professional learning series.
Dr. Cozine has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Social Science from Pace University, a Master’s of Arts degree in Social Studies Education from Fordham University and a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from St. John’s University.
Based upon her decades of experience within education, Dr. Cozine founded Consult DMC Inc. to address many of the issues she personally has faced as a teacher, principal and superintendent. She artfully weaves best practices in education and leadership into her coaching to ensure her clients learn new and proven methods to grow and improve.
Dr. Cozine’s expertise include imaging and creating a k-8 school, writing curriculum, providing professional learning to teachers, leaders, and parents on various topics, strategic planning, managing change, developing leadership pipelines, managing the relationship with a Board of Education, with other leaders, and with those they lead.
Dr. Tonya Crombie has over 25 years’ experience in executive coaching and maximizing leader and employee performance. Tonya began her career as an organizational and leadership development consultant in a large international consulting firm. After providing executive coaching and leadership and organizational development consulting to clients such as IBM, Pepsico, and various Fortune 100 organizations, Tonya accepted an opportunity to work within the HR department at Intercontinental Hotels Group. At IHG, she progressed to leadership roles in HR, where she led the teams responsible for employee and organizational development, recruitment and retention, management/leadership development including the development of high-potential employees and succession plans for the global organization.
Tonya left IHG in order to spend more time with her young growing family and also to focus on one of her first loves, teaching. Tonya authored several courses for distance MBA and Organizational Research degree programs, while devoting the majority of her time to being at home with her two young children. In 2012, Tonya founded Guidance for the Future, a strengths-based coaching practice. Through her work with Guidance for the Future, Tonya was also offered a high school teaching position where she instructed juniors and seniors in areas such as: identifying strengths, factors that increase life satisfaction, and using strengths in leadership roles.
Tonya is also the bestselling author of Stop Worrying About Your Anxious Child and the upcoming Stop Worrying About Your Anxious Teenager. In addition to teaching parents the best techniques to help their children when they struggle with stress, overwhelm, and anxiety, Dr. Crombie also works with managers, leaders, teachers and school staff to better understand, identify, and manage anxiety in the workplace and the classroom. This work is crucial to success as anxiety is the most common mental health issue among adults and children.
Tonya has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and an MBA. She is a highly skilled executive coach and is a requested facilitator and speaker on the topics such as anxiety identification and management, leadership and talent development- particularly in the area of identification and management of strengths, and navigating the way forward when it isn’t clear.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Dr. Barbara Cozine has served as a teacher, curriculum supervisor, building leader, district leader, grant writer and grant administrator, finance director and Assistant Superintendent for Operations for a large school district. In that role she managed 9 school buildings, all district grounds, and managed a $67 million dollar budget. Barbara has taught mathematics and leadership courses at both St. Peter’s College and William Paterson University. This combination of leadership experiences makes Dr. Barbara Cozine a perfect fit for the Consult DMC, Inc team. Dr. Barbara Cozine has a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from St. Peter’s College, a Master’s Degree in Education from New Jersey City University, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from Rutger’s University.
Christine DeBenedetto, the operations manager of Consult DMC, Inc., serves the needs of our clients. Christine has deep and wide experience in both customer service and education. Her organizational skills and attention to detail ensure that Drs. Cozine, Crombie, and Cozine are able to focus on the needs of the clients and their organizations.
