Last week I was presenting to a group of Superintendents in New York who are part of a committee to support female educational leaders. At the end of the presentation, I asked them to reflect on our time together and one thing that they were going to take from it.
One Superintendent responded that she has a knowing and doing gap. She knows what to do but actually doing it consistently is where she falls off.🧐🧐
Isn’t that true for everything and all of us? I always use weight loss and fitness as an example because it is so simple. If we want to lose weight and/or be healthier we know we have to burn more calories than we expend in a day, eat well, and MOVE our bodies.🏃♀️🧎♀️
Why then do I sometimes just sit on the couch with a book rather than getting on my cardio equipment?🤔🤔
You guessed it, the knowing and doing gap.
One thing that I excel at is helping leaders identify their knowing and doing gaps and helping them create accountability systems so they are more consistent.✔️✔️
So, respond to this blog post below as to what your knowing-doing gap is and I’ll give you some tips.👇👇
