As most of you know my children attend the school that I lead. We chose an orthodontist near the school to make it easier for us to get to appointments.
Today, my son Theo had an appointment at 9:30. After the appointment, my son asked “Mom can we go to Mickey D’s.”
Decision time.....
Do I rush back to school? OR do I take the extra 15 minutes to be able to sit with my son while he has pancakes, and I eat an egg McMuffin to just connect?
I decided to connect with him. As a working Mom, it feels like we’re always on the go. What’s worse, is that it’s hard to have quality time with each child individually.
I realize I have the benefit of being able to have lunch with my kids every day and chat with them on the way to and from school. Still, it doesn’t feel like it’s enough.
So the moral of the story is always to take time to connect. When our lives are over, our kids will never say “I wish my mom spent more time at work.”
In love, friendship, and leadership,
