You know that little voice that tells you that you're not good enough or that you don't belong in your position....well that voices is a liar!
Imposter Syndrome is something that we all deal with regardless of our position in life. Imposter syndrome is your reptilian brain's reaction to stressful stimuli. You see...that part of the brain has a really important part to play when we are in DANGER but it can also hold us back when we are experiencing growth. Pshaw....you say? No...hear me out. Growth is scary, growth is stressful. If you were like I was when I entered each new position I was SCARED.
This fear manifested itself in impostor syndrome and lack of confidence. That is no way to come across in a new position...believe me! I had to figure out how to quiet that part of my brain and tell myself that I BELONGED there!
I am here to tell you that if you are IN the position, it is YOURS to OWN. Your name wasn't pulled out of a hat. You interviewed for it, you likely had to do some authentic tasks, and you were CHOSEN for it.
So the next time you don't feel "good enough" just know that feeling does not describe who you really are. You are a ROCK STAR! (ok a little dated but this is one of my favorite sayings.)
Tell me about a time you felt like you were experiencing imposter syndrome by replying to this blog post.
