Characteristics of a Great Leader

Effective leaders can come in many forms but to truly make things happen in their organizations and have their colleagues follow them, they must embrace four core characteristics.

First, they must be honest/transparent. Leaders who aren’t will lose credibility in their organization. People want to know that you will do what you say you will do. No one likes surprises.

They must be gifted problem solvers. They need to be able to identify the actual problem that needs to be solved and sort through the many options in order to resolve it. They can accomplish this by being solutions-oriented.

They need to be forward-thinking and not be afraid to think outside of the box. 21st-century problems need innovative solutions. Finally, effective leaders need to be able to inspire their people. A person cannot be an effective leader if others aren’t inspired to follow!
